After breakfast, we board a comfortable train for the 3-hour journey from Anuradhapura to Jaffna, a relaxing ride that offers glimpses of Sri Lanka’s northern landscapes — palm groves, lagoons, and open countryside that feel distinctly different from the south. The journey into Jaffna takes us across Elephant Pass, once a strategic point during Sri Lanka’s civil conflict. Today, it stands as a symbol of resilience, and crossing into the peninsula offers a powerful reminder of how history has shaped this unique region.
On arrival, we enjoy a traditional Tamil lunch at a local restaurant or family-run home, giving you the chance to experience Jaffna’s famous hospitality and flavors. Afterwards, we transfer to our hotel and take some time to rest before the afternoon ride.
In the late afternoon, we cycle from a designated starting point to Point Pedro, the northernmost tip of Sri Lanka. This 25–30 km ride passes fishing villages, palmyra-lined roads, and stretches of windswept coast, offering a unique insight into life at the edge of the island. After reaching the landmark, we return to Jaffna by vehicle.
Dinner tonight is included and served at the hotel, where you can unwind after a day that blends rail travel, cycling, history, and cultural immersion.
